June Bi‑Monthly Luncheon – Seaton Hotel Wrap‑Up
Johno was quietly impressed to see 55 members roll up for our 9 June 2026 Bi‑Monthly Luncheon at the Seaton Hotel. It was another strong turnout, and it’s always encouraging to see some of our long‑lost mates making the effort to come along. This luncheon certainly didn’t disappoint.
We were pleased to welcome two First Timers:
- Jerry Rankin – A name some may not know, but one with a huge legacy. Jerry served as the SAFB and SAMFS architect for many years and was the principal mind behind numerous station builds. He also designed the Fire Service Fund / Credit Union building in Chancery Lane.
- Malcom Rutschack – It was especially good to see Malcom attend, given the recent loss of his partner Vicki. His presence was appreciated by all.
This luncheon took a slightly different turn with a guest presentation from Jo Newman, who provided a valuable insight into the services available to help manage the challenges of care and support as we age. Her contribution was well received and sparked plenty of conversation.
Our next luncheon will be held on 11 August at the Southern Bistro, South Road, St Marys
