Paul Edward Stein 13/01/1945 – 19/01/2026
Dear MFS Staff, I regret to inform you of the passing of retired Station Officer Paul “Midnight” Stein, who dedicated 25 years of his life working with the South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service. Paul passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife, Linda, all of his children and some of his grandchildren after a long battle with illness. He was 81 years old. Paul joined our ranks in 1970 and served with commitment until his retirement on the 3rd of July 1995. During his career, Paul reached the rank of Station Officer, working in a variety of stations including both old and new Adelaide Headquarters, Norwood, North Adelaide, Glen Osmond and Elizabeth. He also worked in a variety of capacities, including Fire Prevention, the Training College and the Hot Fire Pad at Port Stanvac.
After his retirement, Paul and Linda started a business - Hedgegrove Boarding Kennels and Cattery at Golden Grove. Details of Paul’s Memorial Wake are as follows:
