Passing of Dennis King

Thanks to Trevor Ward -

Ex SAMFS Firefighter Dennis King passed away on Thursday night,
21 December 2023 in the Cairns Hospital following a stroke.

He was 76 years of age.

Dennis served in Vietnam before he joined the fire brigade.

Dennis took over the Camille coffee lounge on the corner of North Terrace and Hackney Road in the basement of Romilly House and turned it into a restaurant called Hackney Cellars, which was Adelaide's first topless restaurant. Dennis was a very good chef and served marvellous steaks.

When he left the restaurant and the fire brigade, he converted a bus to a mobile home and followed the sun around Australia for many years, with his wife Janet.

In later years he bought a house in American River and two and a half months ago he moved to Cairns.

Vale Dennis.
