Information regarding Funeral arrangements for Pat Wilson .

Dear retired Officers; this is Donna Wilson, Pat’s 2nd daughter, writing this post.
For your information below is a letter from the Wilson family regarding Pat's funeral arrangements.

On behalf of my mother Deirdre, sister Cheryl, brother Dale and myself, I would like to sincerely thank all of you for your condolences and kind words regarding the passing of our husband/dad, Pat. Due to COVID restrictions it has been painstakingly difficult deciding on the 50 people we are allowed to invite to Dad’s funeral. To give you an idea there are 16 just in our immediate family.

Dad constantly referred to the MFS as his second family. Dad’s funeral is occurring this coming Thursday and unfortunately due to the restrictions, there will only be a few from the MFS in attendance. For this reason I would like to advise you all that we will be organising a “Celebration of Life” for dad in within the next couple weeks as soon as we receive his ashes, so he can be in attendance. We are not streaming the funeral service on Thursday, rather having it recorded. We will be holding the celebration at Blackwood Football Club where we will be able to have up to 150 people attend (if current restrictions remain the same). We will play the recording of the funeral at the commencement of the celebration on the big screen for those who would like to see it. MFS officer’s/firemen and close friends and family of dad’s who we have been unable to invite to attend his funeral will be given 1st priority to attend the celebration.

I thought I would end my post letting you know that Dad had his wicked sense of humor till the end. Given my dad’s style and sense of humor it went through my mind to start this post with “You thought you were all rid of me well I’m back!” he would have loved that. An example of his quirky sometimes strange sense of humor being there till the end occurred on the Wednesday before he passed. I was very surprised at the energy he summoned from somewhere on that day due to his excitement that his “brother’s“(dad’s words), Clyde Buttery and Trevor Ward were coming to visit him with a pasties for lunch. Just before Clyde and Trevor arrived dad and I were sitting in the lounge and dad started laughing out of the blue. I asked him what he was laughing about and he said to me “Wouldn’t it be hilarious if I dropped down dead in front of them at lunch”, we both roared with laughter.

He was certainly a character and one of a kind! Thanks so much again, I will advise you all of the celebration details soon.

Kind regards Donna.
