Michael O'Connell.

Passed away peacefully, on August 12, 2024. Aged 72 years.

Loving Husband of Ivy and Father of Doreen, Raymond and Gary.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved colleague, Firefighter Michael O’Connell who passed away peacefully at the age of 72, surrounded by his loving family on Monday the 12th of August.
Michael joined the MFS on Wednesday the 22nd of September 1974 and proudly dedicated his services throughout the South Australian community where he served at Port Adelaide, Semaphore, Largs and Elizabeth Stations until his well-deserved retirement on Friday the 4th of July 2007.
Throughout his dedicated service of 33 years, Michael had a profound impact within the South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service and the wider South Australian community.

In honour of Michael’s memory and to pay our respects, a Memorial service will be held as follows:

All Operational MFS personnel attending the memorial service are kindly requested to wear dress of the day, including medals, cap, tie, and softshell jackets if required.

Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to Michael’s family during this difficult time. As we mourn his loss, we can reflect on the spirit of Michael’s service to the community.
